It’s been a funny old week, we have had our fair share of ups and downs just like any family. We often talk about how our young people inspire us, motivate us and anchor us; they make us realise what’s important. At the heart of all New Bridge successes are our parents – you are the ones who get our children ready to learn, care for them and love them. We hope as many of you as possible will be able to join us for our coffee morning next Friday 23rd October.
On Wednesday a group from New Bridge went down to the new Manchester City Etihad campus. Our wheelchair football team competed with (and skilfully tackled!) City Striker Wilfried Bony, members of the elite women’s team and goal keeper Richard Wright. Words cannot describe how proud we felt.
We’ve been told that footage of the event is being shown on Match of the Day 2 this weekend so you will be able to see the team in action for yourselves.
Representatives have been elected by Year 12, Year 13 and Year 14 to the Learning Centre Student Council and the first meeting has been scheduled for after half term. We look forward to hearing the issues they will be raising on behalf of the students.
Looking even further forward, letters have already gone out regarding (dare we say it?) the ever popular New Bridge Christmas dinner on Wednesday 16th December and orders are coming in thick and fast!
On a final note, next Friday we are being joined by colleagues from Redwood School in Rochdale. 3 members of staff are coming to visit us on their training day to experience life in a similar school to their own and we are sure they will enjoy the day and be made very welcome – they have certainly timed it perfectly with coffee morning being held then (who told them about the cake?).
We hope to see you on Friday,
Judith and Roger
