I would like to apologise for my poor punctuality with my blogs lately; there has been something called the Euros which has distracted me from the outside world at the moment – very bad of me! I suppose I could be excused though as I need some detox following exams. Two and a half hours. The world going by. I was scribbling on this pink answer booklet. My arms felt like I had a million injections all at once. My brain felt flustered. I am really pleased however to get them all over and I feel immensely thankful to the staff for giving me all the support I required during this stressful period.

When I wasn’t locked in the conference room, I was actually out playing football. Although our attempt at winning the One City League was a failed mission, the football we played was fantastic. Jack’s tackle was phenomenal! Also, I cannot forget Jamie’s goal. As Andy Gray once said, “TAKE A BOW, SON!”. However, our team spirit was something else – we were the Leicester of the league. Jack was having a party, Liam was on fire yet we couldn’t end two years of hurt. We did ourselves proud though and every single person should be proud of their efforts this season!

Keeping with the football theme, this week has seen the start of the European Championships. Discussion has been rife around school about what formation Roy should play! Should it be 4-4-2? Should Vardy have come on in the second half? And what about the goals? The excitement surrounding Payet’s screamer, Dier’s free kick and Modric’s volley? Yet the most frequently asked question this week was, “Are we going to able to watch the big game on Thursday?” Now, I cannot answer that question however it is a BIG game! It is probably the biggest international match in my lifetime so far but every single one of them has been bobbins and nearly all of them saw England lose on penalties… If you were to ask me for a score prediction then I would tell you that it is too close to call. I will say England will win in a tight match.

Now, next Thursday will see the EU referendum. I usually shy away from the discussion of politics on this blog because I usually try to keep it a fun, light-hearted affair. However, this is different. This isn’t a general election where you can change course every five years when things go wrong. This is a once-in-a-generation vote. A once-in-a-generation vote that most of us cannot participate in; a decision that is wrong. This is a referendum that affects our future. However, I am not here to tell you how to vote – there are enough people with suits, ties and scruffy haircuts who are doing just that. However, I want to tell you that if you are lucky enough to be able to vote next Thursday, think about what country you want your children and other young people to grow up and become a part of society in.
