Welcome back! It was lovely to see pupils and staff return after the half term break on Tuesday. The builders finally left us at lunchtime on Monday, much to the relief of Mrs Needham and Mrs Unwin! The Year 7 and Year 8 classrooms look fantastic, please do pop in and see for yourselves if you are passing. Thank you to everyone involved in making sure we were ready for Tuesday morning, especially Mr Sefton who opened up on Saturday morning to make sure that everything would be ready for our return to school. The staff have worked tirelessly to make sure the changes to the new timetable will work for our pupils – thank you Miss Tokelove for pulling everything together, you have been fantastic!

We have welcomed a number of new faces over the last couple of weeks; three new pupils have joined us in Key Stage 3 and we have four new members of support staff. Welcome to you all, it is lovely to have you join us at Spring Brook Academy.

It’s good to see the days are getting longer which makes it easier to get up in the morning, I’m sure you will agree. We have a busy half term ahead of us in school. We have World Book Day to look forward to on Thursday 2nd March…….watch this space! I think you will agree that promoting and encouraging a love for reading is a fantastic life skill for all children and adults alike. I don’t know how I would survive without a good book on the go. I personally find it relaxing at the end of a busy day to lose myself in a good book where I find it is great to ‘escape’ for a short time into someone else’s world. We will also taking part in Red Nose Day on Friday the 24th March – again, watch this space!

Our staff will also be busy preparing for September when we will be totally changing the look of our curriculum offer for Key Stage 3 and 4 – exciting times ahead for everyone. Miss Rodgers and I will be working closely with Miss Thomason from our primary provision to ensure that everything is in place for our Year 6 pupils when they join us after the Summer holidays.

This is a shorter blog this week as we adapt to our new timetable and all the exciting changes taking place in school – I am looking forward to sharing the fantastic work our pupils have been doing with you next week!
