Our latest group of young people to undertake their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award set off for Derbyshire on their first practice expedition on Tuesday as Mr Taylor reports..
The groups walked the length of the Monsal Trail in the Peak District starting at Wye Dale near Blackwell and finishing at Bakewell. Each group carried equipment appropriate to them to complete the journey safely and in some comfort..
The weather conditions varied from warm to cool with sunshine and showers at night and on the second morning. We camped overnight at Monsal Head where tents were put up and warm food prepared..
An additional night walk was undertaken to explore the pitch black railway tunnels..
It was a great accomplishment and a fabulous effort by everyone involved..
A special thanks to all the staff for making this very special event possible!
