Our Key Stage 5 Lumenus pathway would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas..

It’s Christmas…. well nearly…. the Autumn term is over… the time has flown!! We have had a brilliant and productive term working in our new room at Medtia and the space over at Oldham Theatre Workshop.

We have taken part in external workshops, created a piece of theatre for primary school children, produced a film of our work with Chrysalis, taken part in a flash mob for the unveiling of the statue of Annie Kenney, performed in the Christmas show and begun work on the Greatest Showman.

The last two weeks have really got us in the Christmas spirit. On Tuesday 11th December we performed our show in the morning, came back and had Christmas lunch at the Atrium (which was delicious), then went back to school to perform for parents and carers. The students worked hard rehearsing and performing in the Christmas show, their hard work and creativity was duly rewarded with lots of applause and praise.

We went to See Hansel and Gretel on morning of Friday 15th with the rest of the Pathway students at the Gallery. The students were mesmerised by the acting, music and staging. In the afternoon we were privileged to have been invited by Oldham Theatre Workshop to take part in the unveiling of the statue to Annie Kenney, Oldham’s very own famous suffragette. It was a very powerful and emotional afternoon starting at the Gallery with speeches from various women, with stories about the need for change from the times of Annie Kenney and now. There was then a procession up to Parliament Square for the unveiling of the statue. Lumenus took part in a Flash Mob where they spoke various lines of a poem from the crowd. What a wonderful day!

We even managed to squeeze in some carol singing (and a spot of dancing) this week..

We are really looking forward to next term, touring our Everyday Heroes piece around the primary schools in our MAT and extremely excited about rehearing and performing our next show The Greatest Showman. We wish you a peaceful and Happy Christmas.
