I have to admit that there are some weeks when I’m unsure as to which aspects of the Learning Centre week I should include within my blog, however this week I have no such dilemma. It’s with immense pride and pleasure that I dedicate my blog to this week’s Trust production of ‘The Greatest Show’.
Students from across the Trust have been working hard for many weeks in preparation for the one of the biggest and most ambitious shows New Bridge has ever produced. Audiences were cleverly immersed into the world of Barnum’s colourful circus even before they took their seats with an amazing set. From the moment the band started up and the amazing cast from across 6 sites enthusiastically belted out the opening song ‘The Greatest Show’, the audience were left in no doubt as to the quality of what was to come.
I had the pleasure of supporting the Learning Centre students both on and off stage in addition to watching the Wednesday evening performance. I don’t mind saying that I shed a tear on a number of occasions.
As one of our parents stated, “I couldn’t stop crying, I would never have believed that my son would ever do something like that. Thank you!’” A big well done to the team who put the show together, all your hard work definitely paid off. The real stars of the show were of course our amazing students who all absolutely shone! The standing ovations on all three nights were absolutely deserved.
I was mesmerised by all the performers and truly inspired. There was a great sense of togetherness both on and offstage with students and staff from across our different sites supporting and encouraging each other. It was lovely to see friendships blossom throughout the week and I have to say it brought a lump to my throat to hear everyone singing together on the way out.
Just to show that our students had as good a time backstage as on, I couldn’t resist taking the following photos..
A big thank you to all the staff who gave of their time to support our students throughout the week, I’m sure they’ll agree that although tiring they would not have missed the opportunity to be inspired by our truly amazing students who clearly enjoyed every minute. Here’s to the next one!!
Just a quick reminder to parents and carers that the Learning Centre Parents’ Evening is being held this Tuesday. We look forward to sharing and celebrating how far our students have come on their New Bridge journey. If you are unable to attend and would like to speak to any of our deliverers, please contact our pastoral team and they will arrange a phone call home.
I hope everyone has a lovely Bank Holiday,
Dawn
