Back in October, some of you may remember me telling you about a very exciting event we are hosting at New Bridge School this coming May in partnership with Charlton Park Academy and CENMAC and our friends from the ACE Centre. Our ‘Communication Works’ event will feature seminars, workshops and speakers plus a hall full of exhibitors all showcasing new and emerging technologies for communication, access and inclusion. To give you a feel for what to expect you can check out details from last year’s event here.

The theme of this year’s event, ‘levelling the playing field for all learners’, will explore how assistive technology, communication tools, digital strategies, person-centred planning and the creative use of technology in education can be used to ensure equality of opportunity for all our pupils. It is an amazing chance for both parents and professionals to find out first hand what’s possible with today’s technology so make sure you save the date: Thursday 21st May 2020, 10am – 4pm. We’re in the process of confirming the programme for the day so keep your eyes peeled for further details to follow.

Mrs Holland would now like to share some of the wonderful work KS4TSR have been doing..

What a busy week we’ve had! In Maths we have been working on our targets, enjoying showing our skills with colour and shape..

We have enjoyed using our iPads for engaging with geometry and working on length..

..and working on shapes and patterns..

We love our Maths lessons!

In English we have been using our iPads to practise our letter formation to work on our small step targets in handwriting..

This term our sensory story is ‘Inside Out’ and we are having a wonderful time working on feelings, exploring our sensory objects and doing really well with our speaking and listening targets. We have been following a simple instruction, signing and communicating our feelings and recognising our characters Sadness, Anger, Fear, Joy and Disgust – we have really enjoyed showing the different types of feelings through our facial expressions..

We have been looking at the different people who help us in Living Skills and we’ve had fun engaging in our PowerPoint on our iPads, making good choices to recognise people who help us within the community. We have used our symbols to make choices when staff ask to find a certain one and we have also signed to show the people who help us or the transport they use..

As you can see, we’ve been having lots of fun with our learning!

I hope you have a good week,

Gavin
