I hope that you all are well. As I mentioned in my blog last, I have asked our pathways staff to share some home learning with you.

Mrs Preston and the team would have been very busy this week if we were in school with it being ‘Show Week’. However the team and students did not let us down and got together at home creating ‘We Will Rock You’ videos that the fabulous team have put together. When I watched it yesterday it put a smile on my face. For those of you that haven’t seen it, you are in for a treat and for those of you who have, I’m sure you’d like another look..

Mrs Preston and the team wanted to also share some of the fantastic work the Lumenus students are doing at home..

Hello everybody, it’s been a while! We hope you are all safe and well. This week would have been show week for the school production ‘We Will Rock You’ (I know, we are all sad that we can’t perform too). In honour of show week, staff and students across the MAT have worked hard on making video clips of themselves performing to ‘We Will Rock You’ to celebrate. Thank you to everyone who participated, we have had a fantastic response and we hope you liked the end result!

Lumenus students have also been working very hard and have been sending in their own performance clips to the song ‘I Want To Break Free’ by Queen. Everyone was creative, as you can see..

This term Lumenus students are focusing on improvisation and creative skills and have been working remotely from Showbie. There are weekly skills challenges, dance activities and wellbeing exercises on the Lumenus account. It has been lovely to keep in touch and our students have produced some fantastic work so far! Well done Lumenus!

Now over to Mr Lawrence and the Activ8 team who have been keeping themselves active as Mr Thornton explains..

Firstly, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everybody well on behalf of the Activ8 team.

Our students have worked incredibly hard to maintain their high standards during this difficult period. Myself, Mr Lawrence and Mr Newton have been blown away by some of the fantastic work we have seen..

The staff team have presented students with various different physical challenges, with the aim of keeping ourselves active, such as: ‘the spell your name challenge’ and ‘the one minute challenge’. I’m delighted to say, Activ8 have tackled these challenges head on, none more so than Saaim, Brandon and DJ who have set the standard..

The team would like to say a huge “thank you” to Mr Taylor for continuing to work with the students who are looking to attain their ‘Duke of Edinburgh’s Award’. Although we would love nothing more than to be out and about, accessing the community, we are fortunate to have fantastic resources at our disposal, allowing students to access sessions and remain in regular dialogue with their fellow students and staff members.

Activ8 have tested their sports knowledge on different sports and sporting events. I would like to take this opportunity to say “well done” to Kai. He continues to impress with a wealth of sports knowledge, and passion for sport.

Furthermore, myself, Mr Lawrence and Mr Newton would like to invite all students to ‘ The Dojo Karate Centre’ who are offering free online classes.

Lastly, we urge everyone to continue to stick to the government guidelines regarding COVID-19, and continue to support one another during these testing times.

As you know, we have opened the New Bridge School site as a hub for our parents who are key workers – here is Mr Newton getting the students active with a little bit of Joe Wicks this morning..

I also have news of two competitions that you are all invited to take part in. The first is a DT competition which opens next week across the Trust but we have the details of here. For the second challenge, Miss Allison is asking for your entries to the New Bridge ‘Big Art Competition’ which you can find out more about in her blog here. Staff will be sharing the new Showbie group codes for both competitions with the students next week.

Next week we’ll be hearing from our Digit4ll students and finding out what home learning they have been busy with.
