Welcome to you all.

You should have all received through ParentPay an update of our plans going into the summer holidays. As Graham mentions in his letter (you can read it here) we need to ensure that all the sites are safe for all our students and staff.

This week our Digit4ll pathway wanted to share with you all what they have been up to so I’ll hand you over to Mr Slater..

Hello from a Locked-down Digit4ll. Like the vast majority of other students, the Digit4ll Pathway is still working from home and keeping daily contact via Showbie – no matter what the hour! The students are still completing tasks set for them such as their weekend review and displaying them on the Showbie page. Recently they were asked to come up with their own logo for a business that they would perhaps like to be involved in. Here are a couple of examples..

Danielle shows off her passion for art!

…and can anybody guess which football team Peter has designed this new logo for?

As you may have read in a recent blog, both Digit4ll teams did extremely well in the Young Enterprise project this year even though lockdown meant that they had to create online presentations between themselves. Here’s what Joseph, Finance Director from Key Minds, our personalised key ring making enterprise, thought of the experience..

“This year’s business has had its pro’s and con’s but has been successful nonetheless. I personally saw our awareness keyrings as two birds being fed from one slice of bread. We made a very profitable product as well as raising awareness for a big issue. I think that also it was a great product as it was versatile. While the product was successful, we were unable to continue sales due to the global pandemic. To conclude, I saw this as a successful idea and I am proud that my team were able to build on it.”

Thanks Joe. And here’s Jordan, Director of Cozy Cuddlers, our other enterprise who specialise in making rice filled scented and heated neck wraps…

“I was first introduced to the Young Enterprise project when I joined the Digit4ll Pathway. I was immediately impressed on how focussed the students were when undertaking the project. It is a fantastic opportunity that really brings students into the world of business and also enhances our personal and social skills. It also helps us to understand the implications of finance especially during current times where financial stress is the norm with the economy being under great pressure. With this in mind we are able to manage our cash flow in order to make a profit.”

Wise words indeed Jordan.

And finally, speaking of cash, this week our two Enterprise groups have been to the bank to withdraw the money made from sales this year. Everybody seems reasonably pleased with the outcome!

We hope to see you all again soon with more Digit4ll news. Until then, stay safe and take care.

Finally, socially distanced visits still continue and some of you may have been visited by one of the staff team. Please feel free to contact any of them if you need anything at all.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Jaina and the Team
