Weekly blog 03.12.21
Advent is finally here, and the Learning Centre is starting to look and feel very festive. I’ve already got my decorations up and I’m so happy to be able to teat myself to a daily chocolate from the advent calendar.
During the last week of term, we have a range of Christmas activities including our Christmas dinner and different competitions.
On Monday 13th December we are holding our very own Christmas market. Unfortunately, due to current covid guidelines, this cannot be open to visitors, however goods can be pre-ordered, and we will be sending out order forms next week for Christmas Candles & Gifts, Temple Spar products & Poinsettia plants.
We will also be selling some delicious cakes & sweets.
We would like to ask families if they can support us by contributing items for the tombola stall. There will also be a raffle with a prize of a Christmas hamper so please ensure students bring in money so they can join in and pick up any last-minute gifts.
This week it’s been a real pleasure to take part in learning walks. I’ve never seen so many smiles! I’m always delighted to see our students so engaged and clearly enjoying their learning and I’d like to say a special thankyou to our amazing staff team for inspiring, enlightening and encouraging students to grow in confidence and to develop the many skills that will enable them to thrive! You are an amazing team and I’d like to thankyou on behalf of all our students.
Here’s what else has been going on at the Learning Centre this week.
“This week CLTBN have been getting into the festive spirit and have been working together to decorate the class tree.”
“This week in IN1SNT we have been in the arctic making snowmen and knocking the snowmen over with snowballs.”
“This week we have started our topic Antarctica, we have looked at the different animals that live in the Antarctic.
On Wednesday we started to do our Christmas decorations.
The students enjoyed outdoor Ed on Thursday.
On Friday we did some baking and make some gingerbread biscuits.”
Photos to follow soon
To finish I’d like to share some very moving words from one of our year 14 students, written within a Christmas card to the whole staff team. I don’t mind admitting it made me cry.
To the Learning Centre and lower New Bridge.
“I don’t only have one family, I have 3, my family at home, at the Learning Centre and at Lower school. I would like to say a HUGE thank you for every little and big help you have given me. When my spark fades away, all you staff have made my spark come back to life. I couldn’t ask for a better family”
Here’s to making a real difference!
