Weekly blog 11.03.21
There’s definitely a buzz of excitement in the air at the Learning Centre amongst our year 14 students, who will be going to Calvert Residential in just over a week. I’m looking forward to hearing all about it from students and seeing the pictures, I would love to join them up a mountain or two!
As promised here are some pictures of Derek the Dalek! Unfortunately, he seems to have been in the wars, but I’m sure Mr Blackman and his students will work their magic and make him work once again!
“This week we have been having a go at first aid trying to get a dalek fighting fit again. Here the students from Community Living TBN are having a go at sanding down the top section of the dalek ready for a new coat of paint.
Last week we forgot to include news from Mrs Brierley’s class, Apologies all, here’s a short report.
“In IB Comms2, our theme for this term is the weather, we have looked at a full range of different weather, this week we have been looking at Snow, Ice and Frost. We have made some snowflakes for our wall display.”
Next Friday, the Learning Centre will be joining schools and colleges across the country to raise money for ‘Red Nose Day 2022’.
We are asking everyone to bring in a pound and dress up! We will also be selling red nose day cakes so please do bring in some cash!
The Learning Centre is also going to join many other organisations in supporting the crisis in Ukraine. It’s truly horrifying to watch the news and see the devastation caused to innocent people. We have been talking to students about this and sharing a range of resources to try and help them understand what’s going on. We will be sharing our fundraising ideas within next week’s blog.
Have a nice weekend.
Take care and stay safe.
