Welcome back to the start of this half term.
I’d like to start by saying thank you to those staff who supported students at the holiday club which was held, for the first time at the LC. Staff and students have fed back they had a lovely time, please see the link below for photos
And now to this week, starting with a report from Mrs McDonald’s
E-Base group.
“This term all Ebase 2 students have worked really hard in all their activities. Mahima has really blossomed in her character and has built a great rapport with all new staff and students. Adam, Mahima, Fatimah, Joe, Raihan and Moinur have all engaged and focused well across all areas.
During art, this term we have focused on creating papier-mâché masks. This has become very messy at times as some of the students enjoyed spreading and mixing the paint/pva glue- not only on themselves but all over the tables.
Also, we have made some delicious biscuits and cakes which the students were able to take home and enjoy. During Halloween week all the students decorated and carved pumpkins, made pumpkin cloud dough, meringue ghosts, a magic potion consisting of different ingredients which made it bubble out of our very own cauldron.
After half term, students enjoyed making firework pictures and edible chocolate sparklers which went down a treat! They have enjoyed accessing outdoor Ed where they have visited various parks.
Keep up the good work everyone.”

And now to our Options programme, and an update from Mrs Keane & the Dance & Drama group.
“This week the dance and drama group had a visitor. Alyx Tole, the learning and engagement officer from the Oldham Coliseum joined us to lead a drama workshop.
Alyx led a series of games and exercises to get to know our people and then they explored a range of emotions such as happiness, anger, sadness and excitement.
We learnt about a drama technique called ‘freeze frame’ and the group practised a series of movements based on their emotions. Alyx then started to map out a short performance piece that the group will show their friends at the end of term. This included spoken parts and movement.
Thank you, Alyx, for your help and inspiration.”
I was delighted to read the following email from Alex:
“All the students were engaged and really enjoyed themselves. They are looking forward to developing the piece further and performing it.”
Have a great weekend, Take care
