Learning Centre Blog – 20.1.23
It really doesn’t take long for staff and students to be fully back into the swing of Learning Centre Life, we are already planning for this year’s Calvert Trust year 13 residential taking place in May.
We hope as many of our students as possible will be able to attend.
If you would like to pay for the trip in instalments, please just ask.
You may be aware of the upcoming teachers strikes, we are currently working with unions to assess the impact on the Learning Centre and try and keep disruption to a minimum. We will keep families informed.
Part of the focus of the Learning Centre Curriculum offer is employability skills and students can access both internal and external Work experience placements. I’m delighted to share some feedback from one of our partner employers.
Report coming soon…
Here’s an update from Mr Blackman…
“Over the past few weeks we have been trying to get on top of the overgrown shrubberies, pruning back and thinning out the berberis and hitting the forsythia right back. We also had a group sanding down a table, ready for staining a darker colour and a leaf clearing exercise on the car parking areas to make it safer under foot for staff and students.”
The focus of this weeks blog is our Entitlement Base and Mr Fennelly’s class.
“Since we came back from the Christmas break everyone has settled in really well. In Ebase 1 we have been focusing on our health!
Whether that’s through making fruit salads during cooking…
OR during our weekly exercise lessons!
Everyone has really enjoyed these activities.
During our art lessons we have been working on making a collective picture based on Van Gogh’s Starry night…
Thanks for taking time to read our blog and look at the work we’ve been doing, From Josh, Hannah, Matt, Megan, and all the students in Ebase 1.”
Well done everyone, great week!
Have a lovely weekend
Take care
