Dawn Allison
I have had the pleasure of working for the New Bridge organisation since 2005, firstly as a Year 13 leader at the Learning Centre, then as Director of Behaviour working across the sites before I became Head of Site at the Learning Centre in January 2016.
Previously I worked at Hardman Fold Special School for 12 years, working as a Residential Childcare officer whilst completing my degree and teacher training. I then spent 2 years working in mainstream schools before returning to my real love, special needs education.
I am grateful for all these experiences which have helped me to gain a greater understanding of how we, as a team, working in close partnership with parents and carers, can help our young people overcome any barriers they may face, enabling them to achieve their own personal goals.
I’ve been privileged to work with and learn from some amazing students who make each day very different. I also feel extremely lucky to do a job which brings me so much satisfaction and, the majority of times, joy!
When not at work I can be found walking up hills or along coastal paths, painting and, on occasion, treading the boards!
I look forward to working in partnership with New Bridge colleagues and fellow governors who share the New Bridge vision; ‘to provide opportunities for academic and social development that will enhance the life opportunities for our young people as they move into the adult world’.
