Work Experience
Learning Mentors co-ordinate and support students in gaining access to work experience placements. This involves liaising with local businesses and preparing the students for the workplace and then supporting them during their time at work. This experience helps them to develop important skills such as self confidence, social and communication skills and further enhances their understanding of different environments and the world of work.
Students in Year 11 who are ready to experience a work placement will have the opportunity to do so.
The placements vary in length and students work with the careers teacher and co-ordinator to select a placement that is suitable for the student. Those students who are not ready to access placements within local industry are encouraged to gain experience of the working environment by participating in simulated work experiences.
